Course Outline

The course integrates Reading and Writing skills and covers the following:
  1. Fill in simple personal information forms
  2. Take effective telephone messages
  3. Write a simple application letter and resume
  4. Interpret advertisements, labels, charts and price tags
  5. Record information on forms, charts and checklist
  6. Write a cheque, make electronic bill payments
  7. Give directions in writing
  8. Interpret and fulfil permit and license requirements in writing
  9. Describe a situation in writing
  10. Write simple effective notes, email messages, memos, letters and reports

 

Mode of Assessment

  • All trainees for Workplace Literacy (WPL) are required to sit for a Pre WPLN Assessment to evaluate their language proficiency levels before they are recommended to the different levels for class.
  • The Pre WPLN Assessment is computer-based and consists of four components - Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing.
  • After the completion of the training, all trainees are required to sit for a Post WPLN Assessment to assess their improvements.

 

Certification Obtained and Conferred by

Statement of Attainment (SOA) from SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG)

  • Mapped to ES WSQ - Workplace Literacy Writing (Beginner)
