Course Overview

 

This unit of competency specifies the knowledge, skills and attitudes required of a Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Officer to develop organisational workplace safety and health policies to ensure compliance with national regulations by applying knowledge of regulations and staying abreast of regulatory changes and practices.

 

Course Objectives

 

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Gather information on the applicable WSH legal and other requirements including WSH management system standards.
  • Gather information on stakeholders’ feedback using appropriate methods
  • Gather and organise the organizational information to formulate a WSH Policy.
  • Identify the characteristics of WSH Policy, its objectives and internal and external factors that are affecting WSH policy for the organization.
  • Arrange for the organizational meetings to discuss on the formulation of WSH Policy
  • Document the WSH Policy.
  • Explain the WSH Policies to relevant stakeholders using appropriate methods.
  • Coordinate WSH Management programmes include WSH Risk management programme to support the WSH Policy implementation.
  • Follow-up with the implemented WSH management programmes
  • Gather information for the review of WSH Policies and its objectives.
  • Present to the management on the gaps between desired and actual performances and targets in the management meetings.
  • Document the reviewed/ revised WSH policy.
  • Update on the status of recommended actions arising from management review for continual improvement.

 

Pre-requisites

 

Learners are assumed to:

  1. Possess ES Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Level 5 or GCE “N” Level English grade 5 & Mathematics grade 5; and
  2. Possess WSH skills and knowledge equivalent to that of Certificate in WSH and
  3. Have at least 1 year of WSH relevant working experience

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

 

Upon completion of the course a Statement of Attainment (SOA) from the SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG).
